Wrong Way Old One

There are those who watch our efforts at The Lair. It is impossible for us to enter the area without being surveilled by human concerns. None of this is important and I have long accepted that those who watch have a need to know. However, some of the carvings reflect a knowledge that there would be some who wish to do an end run around me. It is their hope to take the knowledge of the place and to mutate it to their own purposes. All of this was known well in advance of the fact. I have no concern. The place can tend to itself and their endeavors will be fruitless.

Consider the main carving of Old One.

This carving shows that Old One has one bad eye, the right eye.

Now compare that knowledge to this carving.

Wrong Way Old One

In this rendition, Old One's left eye is the bad eye and his right eye the good one. You would be unable to ascertain which image was the correct one UNLESS you'd actually met him in person, as I have.

This is not the only wrong way carving of Old One in the area. It points to a rock formation that I would have been very interested in making the climb to, as would those who watch. For me, the message of the carving is clear - don't waste your time. The watchers, on the other hand, will have made the effort for no gain.
